soooooo...

i know most people don't announce their pregnancies as early as we do. we're not those kind of people who can keep their own secrets. i'm also not one of those lucky women who glows when she's pregnant...especially in the first trimester. i break out and throw up and i can't get through the day without taking at least 2 naps. i forgot about ALL of this.

i have a theory about pregnancy. in LDS theology, we often refer to a "veil of forgetfulness" that keeps us from remembering our time before we came to earth. so i've come to believe in a pregnancy veil. it increases in strength with each pregnancy and is THE reason that jon and i continue to add children to our family.

baby canlas is due to join us june 4th...but i'm a c-section fan so i get to schedule it a week before the baby is due. that means may 28th at some ungodly hour, we'll pull up to the hospital for the big day. jon leaves for a wedding in d.c. the morning of the 29th. thus is the the life in the canlas family.

i'm pleased to say that i'm honestly excited, eager, and sincerely happy for our new addition. as all the kiddos get older, i'm actually starting to see how mommas get baby hungry. who knows how many we'll end up with...i guess it all depends on how strong the pregnancy veil is after this one. and ps...this is what baby looks like right now.

  2. Congratulations! That is so exciting. You guys have such cute kids!

I think the pregnancy veil has been lifted for me, because although having a baby sometime in the future sounds somewhat appealing, I am scared of being pregnant and postpartum and having all those crazy hormones again. Seriously. We'll see!

  3. I'm a believer in the pregnancy veil. Right now in my third trimester I feel so huge and miserable, I keep saying to myself, "Really? What were you thinking?"

But then you see those little babies, and something makes you want to suffer through it all again.

  5. I am like Sheree where the pregnancy veil is not there anymore. I had it with Carter, but after two I went a little crazy and decided I better not do this for awhile! May 28th is James' birthday, so you will be having the baby on a good day. Love your guts. Sorry your sick, call me if you need me to get anything for you like takeout for dinner or something. haha don't you like how I didn't offer to make you dinner, just pick some up for you? You know how I roll!

  7. This baby is seriously well loved already. I'm so sorry you're throwing up. That is a disgusting feeling. When do we get to find out if it's a her or him?

  8. Team Covey, you can find out now. You just have to see if Callie's puke is pink or blue.

  9. Calli, I haven't been here in awhile, I have spent the last 30 or so minutes bawling a little, from the nie nie benefit, to the hoyts and your inspiration to keep on running...to this blessed miracle. I love your little family SO much...you are always in our prayers. Much love!

  10. Hang in there Momma! I hate the first trimester! And can I just say you are super women to be having a 5th papooshka!?!?! (In my best Waynes World voice - I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy....

  11. Callie, you are an amazing woman, and that's all there is to it.

I, for one, have LOVED being pregnant and never really have had a reason to not look forward to it - okay, besides the fact that once the baby arrives I don't get to sleep through the night for a while.

I'm definitely getting the itch, and I hope life will settle down soon so I can add to my brood, too. I'll never be able to keep up with you and Jon, though. You guys really set the bar! :-)

By the way, I tagged you. For rules see my blog.

  12. I agree with the comments, you ARE amazing. I love kids, but NOT the pregnancies.. even though I have 4 days left and I am already wondering if there is another miracle out there for me to have another one (and hopefully a girl).
I am so excited for y'all! I hope you are feeling OK, as well as can be expected the first trimester. Take care!
